Travel insurance activities that may be covered
There are several activities that may be covered under the travel insurance products offered online by Travel Insurance Saver, depending on the event. However, there are also a number of activities which are generally excluded under all travel insurance plans from Travel Insurance Saver.
Some activities are limited to the product you are selecting such as Snow Sports Cover which are only applicable to certain travel insurance plans. Please see activity list below for further information.
Please note that the following activities are excluded from all policies
Hunts, plays polo, races (except on foot), mountaineers using support ropes, paraglides, rock climbs, abseils, participates in base jumping, running with the bulls, or potholing.
Other general exclusions to consider before partaking in certain adventure activities, but not limited to;
A loss arising from if a member of the travelling party intentionally and recklessly places themselves in circumstances, or undertakes activities, which pose a risk to their personal safety (except in an attempt to save a human life).
Professional Sporting Activities are excluded: an activity for which you receive financial reward, sponsorship, or benefits from participating in or training for that activity, regardless of whether or not you are a professional sportsperson.
Any cover for your liability resulting out of your use of a mechanically propelled vehicle (e.g. motor vehicle, jet ski, boat, or motorcycle).
There is no cover for:
- riding an all-terrain vehicle or quad bike, either as the person in control or as a pillion passenger.
- Note, cover is available on International plans if you are riding an all terrain vehicle or quad bike as part of a tour with a licensed operator
- participating in activities on snow or ice, other than snow sports activities if you have purchased the Snow sports cover option, where available.
- Note, International plans may offer cover for the following activities without purchasing the Snow sports cover option: ice skating on man-made bodies of water; dog sledding with a licensed tour company; and glacier walking on a guided tour.
- participating in any competitive record attempts involving aerial devices or aircraft.
- participating in, or training for, a professional sporting activity; or
- travelling in international waters in a private sail vessel or privately registered sail vessel.
Riding motorcycles, mopeds, or motor scooters, and scuba diving, have their own sets of conditions and are not coverable unless those conditions are met.
Motorcycle, moped, and motor scooters:
There is no cover for riding a motorcycle, moped or motor scooter, either as the person in control or as a pillion passenger: with an engine capacity greater than 250cc, or without wearing a helmet, or where the person in control does not have a full motorcycle licence that is valid both in the country of travel and in their country of residence.
Riding an e-scooter or e-bike when overseas
Cover is available on International plans for:
- Riding an e-scooter with maximum speed capacity up to 25km/hr
- Riding an e-bike with maximum speed capacity up to 35km/hr
Scuba diving:
There is no cover for scuba diving unless you hold an open water diving licence, or you were diving under licensed instruction.
