Cover may be available for horse riding related events depending on the event. Claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Horse riding is not generally excluded under the Travel Insurance Saver PDS. However, other general exclusions, conditions and limitations may apply. General exclusions to consider, but not limited to, a loss arising from:

• A member of the travelling party intentionally and recklessly placing themselves in circumstances, or undertaking activities which pose a risk to their personal safety (except in an attempt to save a human life); or
• Excluded Activities - hunting, playing polo, racing (except on foot), mountaineering using support ropes, paragliding, rock climbing, abseiling, participating in BASE jumping, running with the bulls, or pot holing; or
• Professional Activities - participating in, or training for, a professional sporting activity.

Travel insurance when Horse Riding and existing medical conditions: 

For enthusiasts planning to engage in horse riding overseas or domestically, it’s important to note that horse riding, a physically demanding activity, is covered unless it is a professional sporting activity or falls under any other general exclusions. Those with existing medical conditions may need to undergo a medical screening to have their condition approved as a specified medical condition under the selected travel insurance plan.
