Travel Insurance Saver offers a variety of online travel insurance products that may provide cover for hiking and trekking-related claimable events, subject to the event and adhering to the terms, conditions, and limitations specified in the current combined FSG and PDS. Travel insurance cover options for these activities include overseas medical expenses, medical evacuation, and repatriation, with specific limits dependent on the chosen plan. Claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis:
- Bare Essentials: $250,000 for Medical Evacuation and Repatriation.
- Essentials: $500,000 for Medical Evacuation and Repatriation.
- Comprehensive: Unlimited Medical Evacuation and Repatriation.
- Annual Multi-Trip: Unlimited Medical Evacuation and Repatriation.

General exclusions to consider, but not limited to, a loss arising from:
- A member of the travelling party intentionally and recklessly placing themselves in circumstances, or undertaking activities which pose a risk to their personal safety (except in an attempt to save a human life); or
- Excluded Activities - hunting, playing polo, racing (except on foot), mountaineering using support ropes, paragliding, rock climbing, abseiling, participating in BASE jumping, running with the bulls, or pot holing; or
- Professional Activities - participating in, or training for, a professional sporting activity.
- Participating in activities on snow or ice, other than snow sports activities if you have purchased the Snow sports cover option, where available.
- International plans may offer cover for the following activities without purchasing the Snow sports cover option: ice skating on man-made bodies of water; dog sledding with a licensed tour company; and glacier walking on a guided tour.
- Cover is available on International plans for hiking and trekking up to 6,000m altitude.
Annual Multi-Trip travel insurance:
The Annual Multi-Trip plan may be suitable for travellers engaging in multiple hiking expeditions within a year, which may provide up to 45 days of travel insurance cover per trip within the annual period. Travel insurance cover is contingent on selecting the destinations during the quote process, but it's important to note that no cover is provided for destinations with a 'DO NOT TRAVEL' advisory from the Australian Government's Smart Traveller website.
Travel insurance when hiking and trekking with luggage cover and specified item cover:
For hikers needing to insure their gear beyond the standard luggage and personal effects limit, specified item cover is available under certain plans, allowing for the inclusion of hiking gear such as poles, boots, and backpacks for an additional amount. The depreciation rate does not apply to listed specified items. Proof of purchase required.

- Canada: Provides stunning hikes in the Rockies, including Banff and Jasper.
- Norway: Known for trails like Trolltunga showcasing dramatic landscapes.
- Japan: Offers cultural hikes like the Nakasendo Trail.
- Chile: Presents the W Circuit in Torres del Paine National Park.
- United States: Includes the Appalachian Trail and Grand Canyon hikes.
- Australia: Offers unique experiences like the Larapinta Trail and Overland Track.

For those with prepaid hiking or trekking travel arrangements, selecting a plan with optimal cancellation and holiday deferment cost cover may be necessary.
The Bare Essentials plan provides a static $2,000 for cancellation and deferment costs, while the Essentials, Comprehensive, and Annual Multi-Trip plans offer adjustable limits for increased travel insurance cover at an additional premium.
