    South East Asia Travel Insurance

    Extras

    Motorcycle around

South-East Asia is a land of mystery unto its own. What was once known as Indochina, well the continental portion at least, is now a collection of different nations with varying cultures. South-East Asia has been a hotspot for tourists for a very long time, mostly due to the cheap prices, friendly people and vibrant culture. A lot of people travel around South-East Asia on motorcycle, if you are planning on travelling around on a motorbike, it’s important you have motorcycle travel insurance

The total area covered by South-East Asia is around 4.5 million square kilometres, making it slightly larger than Australia. The difference being that South-East Asia is almost entirely covered in lush jungle, however, a lot of this land is broken up into islands and peninsulas.

    Or, rent a car?

So, if you are on the mainland, you’ll be covering a lot of ground. Fortunately, there is provision for rental vehicle car insurance excess coverage in some of the travel insurance policies provided.

The mainland of South-East Asia is made up of the countries Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia and parts of Indonesia. The rest of South East Asia includes the archipelagic islands of Indonesia – Java, Sumatra, Borneo – and Irian Jaya, the Western half of Papua.

    Snooze on a cruise...

Technically Papua New Guinea is a part of Oceania, which includes Australia, New Zealand, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. With so many countries spread throughout the ocean, it is easy to see why people opt to cruise around for their holiday. Cruise cover is included in all international travel insurance policies.

    And for the business people

People are heading to South-East Asia from Australia more frequently than ever before for business. Whether you’re heading to Jakarta, or Singapore, there are various forms of business travel insurance you can take out to cover your holiday.

If this is you, and you are travelling multiple times throughout the year to South-East Asia, then an annual multi-trip policy might be the most beneficial for your travel plan. This policy allows you to travel as many times as you like in one year provided that none of these individual trips are over 60 days each.

Thailand is an always popular tourism destination for people all around the world. For many years it has been a favourite, seeing people from the United States, Europe and, of course, Australia. People travel to Thailand for spiritual reasons, for business reasons or for pleasure.

    Scuba?

Thailand is well-known for its famous reefs, particularly around Koh Tao. If you are planning on snorkelling or scuba diving around Thailand, the scuba travel insurance will be essential for your trip – with an open scuba diving licence or by diving with someone who holds a scuba diving license.

Vietnam is also a tourist favourite. Since the Vietnam war ended, more and more people travel to Vietnam for both business and pleasure. For good reason, the people, as with all of the people in South-East Asia, are very friendly.

The food is excellent, nay exquisite; and the scenery is incredible. If you are a backpacker and you are heading to Vietnam, you can’t miss out on backpacker travel insurance. This comes in many forms, with the bare essentials policy being the cheapest and still offering the crucial unlimited medical cover.

    Jet ski travel insurance

Once in the water, there is a lot to explore. If you are in Indonesia, there are hundreds of different archipelagic islands to explore. You may even have the opportunity to use a jet ski. If you are one of the lucky ones who gets to use a jet ski, then jet ski travel insurance will be an essential part of your trip. Jet ski cover is included under all international travel policies, but you must purchase a travel insurance policy online first.

    The people time forgot

Irian Jaya is the Western half of Papua and is becoming a hot spot for its natural resources, which in a sense is sad. There is much more to Irian Jaya than what lies beneath the ground. The people have a colourful, varied and distinctive culture. Irian Jaya, like Papua New Guinea, has many different spoken languages and many different people. If you’re travelling to Irian Jaya on business you might be an expat, there is expat travel insurance offered under all international travel plans.

    Hot air balloon

Myanmar is also becoming a more popular tourist destination. Once closed off to the world, this country has low prices and is relatively undiscovered by the wider tourist circles. Some of the more popular places to visit include Bagan, a plain with temples dotted around. You can hot air balloon over this great plain and it rivals even Cappadocia in Turkey. Hot air balloon travel insurance is included for free under all international travel plans.

    Hanging ten toes

Cambodia as well is more and more becoming the next big thing for tourists. Its incredibly low prices make it a favourite for backpackers, and its beaches make it a popular destination for surfers. Surfing travel insurance is included under all international travel plans, and if you are planning on going surfing, you should of course purchase travel protection.

    Compare for the best price

Before you head off on your overseas vacation to South-East Asia, it’s never a bad idea to compare travel insurance online. You’ll be able to see which prices work best for you, and what kind of coverage you can get for them. If you are travelling on a lower budget, then a more economical plan will be best, however, if you are travelling with family, then you should always opt for a more comprehensive policy.

    Activities Travel Insurance

Laos is an interesting country. Unlike other South-East Asian countries, this one is landlocked. Parts of Laos also enter into the Himalayas, meaning this country is very mountainous. You can endeavour to try a lot of different activities while in Laos, luckily there is provision for activities travel insurance.
