Annual travel insurance vs Annual Multi Trip travel insurance
There are several different travel plans available through the Travel Insurance Saver website depending on your trip details. If you are heading overseas, you may choose from up to four different international travel plans: - the Bare Essentials, the Essentials, the Comprehensive plan, and there is also the Annual Multi Trip plan.
Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance
The Annual Multi Trip provides cover for a 365-day period, you may take multiple overseas and domestic trips within the 365-day period, with a per trip limit of 45-days. That means, you may take as many trips as you wish overseas within a year, provided those trips don’t exceed a 45-day period and you start and end your trip at your home in Australia each time^.
^ Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions and limitations set out in the current Combined Financial Services Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
The difference between a year-long single-trip plan and the Annual Multi Trip Plan
Do not confuse the Annual Multi Trip plan for a plan that will cover you overseas for a full year. The Annual Multi Trip plan provides cover for multiple recurring overseas and domestic trips of up to and no longer than 45-days each within that 365-day period, but not overseas cover for a year.
If you are going to be travelling overseas for a full year, then you may consider a single trip plan (Bare Essentials, Essentials or Comprehensive) to cover a year (up to 365-days) of overseas travel^.
If you are already overseas, please refer to the already overseas page for further information.
^ Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions and limitations set out in the current Combined Financial Services Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
Extending your cover
Depending on your circumstances, if you want to change the dates of your cover, you’ll need to either extend your policy or buy a new one (for the additional days). You are eligible to extend your policy if^:
- your current policy has not ended;
- all travellers are currently within the plan age limits – such as if you are travelling with accompanying children who are still under 25;
- you still meet all eligibility requirements of the policy;
- you haven’t claimed and don’t intend to claim for an event that has already occurred;
- there has been no change to your health since the issue of your Certificate of Insurance; and
- you don’t have any specified medical conditions covered under your current policy.
NOTE: The Annual Multi Trip plan cannot be extended past 45-days for international travel, only the single trip international plans (Bare Essentials, Essentials and Comprehensive) may be extended; however, you may be able to purchase a Comprehensive plan to cover you from the time your 45-days expires overseas, until the time you return to your home in Australia.
^ Cover is subject to the policy terms, conditions and limitations set out in the current Combined Financial Services Guide and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
